MBI CPL1 / Chronic Pain Management – Level I

Attendees learn the principles of mindfulness meditation, the importance of living in the moment, the power of now, and how these relate to our suffering. Mindfulness facilitates a balanced relationship to our pain, despite the challenges of everyday life. This can change the intensity of pain suffering, both emotional and physical, in a positive way. Consistent attendance is recommended to benefit from the course.

In this thirteen week course, participants learn the principles of mindfulness meditation and the importance of living in the moment. The course provides many different exercises, teachings, and sharing techniques. Some of the topics include the body-mind connection, anxiety/stress, compassion, sleep and mindful eating. Each class has meditation practise which is the foundational exercise in developing mindfulness. Mindfulness promotes a balanced relationship to our pain, despite the challenges of everyday life. MBI CPL2 / Mindfulness-Based Chronic Pain Management – Level II

Building on the principles from the Chronic Pain Level One course, this thirteen week program goes deeper continuing to explore the importance of living in the moment, the power of now and how these relate to our daily suffering. This level helps participants to integrate and apply the mindfulness tools and practice into their every-day lives. Space is limited.

MBI MBSR/MBCT / Mindfulness Based Stress Management/Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy – Level I

This ten week course introduces the principles of mindfulness-based stress reduction and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. This includes the mindfulness attitudes, and the habitual thought patterns. We also explore mindfulness-based self-compassion and compassion for others. The program utilizes mindfulness-based interventions to deepen one’s own awareness. The primary focus is on increasing the ability of the participants to be mindful of their own thoughts, emotions and body wisdom in order to respond to life joyfully and fully.

The program runs 2.5 hours a week and utilizes mindfulness-based interventions to deepen one’s own awareness. The primary focus is on increasing the ability of the participants to be mindful of their own thoughts, emotions and body wisdom in order to respond to life joyfully and fully. It is guided by certified instructor Dr. Kim R McKenzie, who is certified in MBSR and MBCPM. It is complementary to programs run by the Center for Inner Freedom and the Integrated Stress Management Program. Space is limited.

MBI CPL3 EMO / Mindfulness-Based Emotional Skills & Compassion – Level III

An advanced course of the Chronic Pain series this 12 week course includes teachings about the male and female brain, epigenetics, emotional intelligence, personality differences, compassion and forgiveness. Daily practise of extended meditations invite the participants to deepen their awareness and to acknowledge and allow the present moment just as it is. Prerequisites: Two CPL1 courses, or one CPL1 course and one CPL2 course and a regular personal meditation practice.

Prerequisites: Two of level I courses MBCPM or one level one course and one level II course and a regular personal meditation practice. Space is limited.
